According to a letter from Nancy to her grandson, Clarence Ayriss; Nancy and her husband John were visiting relatives in North Dakota. She expected to be back home in Michigan sometime in the fall of 1915. They were still in North Dakota at the time of her death in July 1916. According to a granddaughter, Myrtle Ayriss Jacobs, grandma Nancy Arnetta Hovery Ayriss died in North Dakota. Grandpa John brought her body back in a coffin in a train boxcar.
