ALBERT (DOC) HOUDYSHELL

Albert (Doc) Houdyshell of Keyes, Oklahoma, loving husband and father, passed away August 23, 2010, at the age of 82, in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born February 3, 1928 in Keyes, Oklahoma.

Doc loved being outdoors. He worked in the field with Colorado Interstate Gas Company for 35 years, operating various types of heavy equipment. He was well known for his backhoe expertise. In his spare time he enjoyed welding, fabricating and most of all farming.. He had a passion for cutting wheat and working the soil. Even after he retired fro farming, he loved to help his friends in the field when they needed him.

He was a charter member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kansas and moved his membership to the First Baptist Church of Keyes, Oklahoma.

He served tow years in the Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Mary (Moreland) Houdyshell, his six brothers, Glenn, Laurence (Toots), Guy, Ralph, (twins) Lloyd and Floyd, his two sisters, Leona Justus and Agnes Davis. Doc was the last of his large family.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of 38 years. They were married May 27, 1972. To this union his family grew to 5 sons and 2 daughters; Brenda and Bob Cook of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Rich Whisenand of Bangkok, Thailand, Karen Ikeda of Keyes, Oklahoma, Dan and Galena Houdyshell of Ulysses, Kansas, Rod and Candace Talbert of Akron, Ohio, Mike Houdyshell of Keyes, Oklahoma, Gary and Julie Talbert of Elkhart, Kansas, fourteen grandchildren , 15 great grandchildren , Numerous nephews and nieces and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30am at the First Baptist Church, Keyes, Oklahoma with Mark Nickles, officiating. Interment will be in the Willowbar Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to either the Willowbar Cemetery or to the Keyes EMT's, in lieu of flowers, they may be left in care of the mortuary. Services by Cimarron Mortuary, Box 277, Boise City, Oklahoma, 73933.
