Lenoir, NC – Mrs. Virginia "Tooney" Louise Houck Cantor, age 66, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Born May 18, 1946 in Caldwell County, Virginia was the daughter of the late J.T. Houck and Nettie McLain Houck Howell. Virginia was a member of the Collier's Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, especially making baked goods. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She enjoyed attending her granddaughters dance recitals. Virginia loved her job as a Postal Clerk at the Lenoir Post Office.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Vernon Cantor, Jr. of the Home; two daughters, Devon Greer and fiancé, Greg Yount, of Lenoir and Debbie Cantor and fiancé, James Messer, of Hickory; two sisters and a brother in law, Patricia " Trish" Woods and husband, James, of Lenoir and Betty " Mousey" Simmons of Granite Falls; two brothers and a sister in law, John "Bud" Houck and wife, Linda, of Granite Falls, and Bruce Houck of Lenoir; her grandchildren, Kristen Presnell, Kurt Presnell, Dawton Greer, and Taylor Greer; a great granddaughter, Kayden Presnell; Virginia is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Colliers Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Lori Anne Bowen and Martha Proffit officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Dawton Greer, Greg Yount, Kurt Presnell, Kenneth Crane, Roger Cox, Jeremy Houck and Jody Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Harrison and Melvin Harrison.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Evans Funeral Service and Crematory from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
