Mrs. Ida C. DeLong, widow of James DeLong [born Dec. 1845], of near Bowers, died suddenly on Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 7 days. She was a daughter of Dr. Edward Hottenstein and his wife Sarah, nee Knabb. She was a member of the Christ Reformed DeLong's Church of Bowers. There survive the following children: Mrs. Ira C. Fenstermacher, of Bowers; Mrs. Milton Philips, of Chapman's Quarries; Dr. Francis E. DeLong, of Annandale, Butler county; Mrs. Edgar Fiddler, of Womelsdorf; Mrs. Deborah Baver, of Philadelphia; Dr. Paul J. DeLong, of Allentown, and Raymond P. DeLong, at home. Two sisters, Alice Hottenstein, of Kutztown, and Mrs. W. J. Hersh, of Saugerities, N.Y. and three brothers: Dr. William Hottenstein, Akron, Ohio; Dr. Charles Hottenstein, of Kutztown, and Dr. Peter Hottenstein, Philadelphia and eight grandchildren survive. Funeral will be held from her late home near Bowers on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with short services at the house, followed by continued services in the Christ Reformed DeLong's church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. G. B. Smith, of Kutztown, will officiate. Allentown Morning Call, Wed., 13 July 1927, pg. 7.
The 1900 Maxatawny, Berks census shows the children as Sallie A. (b. Nov. 1877), Florence M. (b. July 1879), Francis E. (Dec. 1880)(son), Harriet M. (Mar. 1883), Beulah E. (Oct. 1885), Katie D. (Apr. 1888), Paul J. (Feb. 1891) and Raymond P. (Dec. 1893).
