Abner Hostetter was a 1st lieutenant in Company H of the 29th Illinois Infantry.
His war records list him as born 1834 in Clinton, Vermillion Co, IN.
He enlisted in the Civil War on Aug 24, 1871 in Edgar Co, IL and was mustered into service at Camp Butler near Springfield, IL. Edgar county, IL history books stated that he recruited many men from his township for service.
Abner died of disease during service on Mar 29, 1862.

He was the son of Henry and Martha Hostetter.
