Mrs. Maudie Ellen Horton, 79, of North Miller Street died in a local hospital Sunday afternoon following an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Horton was born October 1, 1872 in Scott County, Virginia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Franklin. She moved with her family to Madison County, Arkansas and was married to John R. Horton March 24, 1898, at Boston, Arkansas.
In 1911 they moved to Westville, Oklahoma and resided there and in Arkansas until moving to Wenatchee in 1936, where they have since made their home. She was preceded in death by Mr. Horton on Feb. 8, 1946 and by one infant daughter. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church and had been active in church work.
Surviving are two sons, Floyd F. Morgan of Sedro Woolley and Walter M. Morgan of Marblemount, Washington, two daughters, Mrs. E. C. Slater of Wenatchee and Mrs. E. C. Cordray of Mount Vernon; one brother, Henry Franklin of Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. Annie Harvey of Fayette, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
