He was born in Richlands, the son of Mrs. Olivia Joyce Horton of Richlands and the late Arthur T. Horton Sr.
He had been an employee of the Island Creek Coal Co. for the past 22 years and at the time of his death was buyer for the Island Creek Stores.
He had served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.
He had made his home in the Logan area for the past 22 years. He was a graduate of Grundy High School and VPI, Class of 1948.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his uncle, R.N. Horton of Richlands.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. David Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Ware, Frank Mancari, Eddie Hackworth, Robert Cline, E.W. Miller, Julius Sabo.
Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Horton, Robert Repass, Kelly Fields, Grant Elkins, Bane Horton, Max Horton, Kenny McGlothlin, Charles Graybeel and Hugh Dye.
The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call after 5 p.m. today.
