Charles T. Hornback
Charles T. Hornback, 86, of Columbus died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
He worked at Cummins Engine Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1977, and also drove a huckster truck in the 1930s.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Rev. John W. Armstrong officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Hornback was born April 17, 1912, in Columbus, the son of Ira and Minnie Holton Hornback. He married Imogene Throop Sept. 5, 1942. She died June 21, 1994.
Surviving are sons, Steve and Randall Hornback and Walt Whittington, all of Columbus, and Eddie Lee Meyers of New York; daughters, Rosalie Carlock of Grammer and Patty Watson of Columbus; a brother, Arthur Hornback of Columbus; sisters, Nellie Jones and Mable Whittington, both of Columbus, and Mary Neal of Seymour; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Hornback; two brothers; and one sister.
