Darrell was the son of Edra Horn. His father died more than ten years ago. He was the first husband of Shirley B. Lare. Darrell moved from West Virginia to Phoenixville, Chester County, PA in 1946. He was killed in a plane crash near Clearfield, Clearfield County, PA. Two hunters found him in a heavely wooded area while they were on a bear hunt.
