MRS, GEORGE BLY, CRESCO, IS DEAD
Funeral Services Held for Aged Woman Who Came From Ireland.
CRESCO, Feb. 9. Funeral services for Mrs. George Bly, 88, who died at her home in Cresco Friday night after a lingering illness, were held this afternoon at the Bradley funeral home. She was born in Ireland May 15, 1842, and came to America at an early age. She was twice married. Her first husband, C. O. Peckham, died 22 years ago.
Afterward she was married to George Ely, who survives her. She also leaves two sons, Cyrus Peckham of Montana and G. W. Peckham of Cresco and a daughter, Mrs. Ella Bouche of Minnesota. The Rev J. W. Reed, pastor of the Methodist church officiated at the services with interment at New Oregon cemetery.

Bessie Eliza Horn, second daughter of Patrick and Mary Horn, was born in Ireland April 9, 1847. The family came to America in 1850 where the husband and the father of the family had preceded them and made a home at Rome, N.Y. She had five sisters and one brother, all but one sister, Mrs. Margaret Schellar of Rome, N.Y., having preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage in 1862 to Cyrus Peckham at Rome, N.Y. To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls. The family came to Plymouth Rock in 1872 where they made their home for a good many years.
On October 14, 1905 she was united in marriage to Geo. M. Bly of Cresco. She has made her home and near Cresco since coming to Iowa, all but two years when she resided in Denver, Colorado.
She was taken to her bed last July and was a patient sufferer from that time until her death which occurred Feb. 6, 1931 at 12:00 p. m., at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her death her husband Geo. M. Bly, one daughter, Mrs. Ella Voltin of Fairfax, Minn., a son Geo. W. Peckham of Cresco and a grandson, Geo. E. Peckham who is a student at the Naval Academy, Annapolis. Md., whom she raised from a baby; also 3 step-sons: Rollo M. Bly at home; Alva E. Bly, Austin. Minn.; Leslie Bly, Granger, Minn.; and one step-daughter, Lelia M. Anderson, Cresco. There are several step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces in New York state and different parts of Iowa and Minnesota.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were her step-son Alva E. Bly and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pachirua of Austin, Minn.
