Marie Celestine (Hopper) Ferguson, 89, a lifelong resident of Richland, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, in LAS-St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.
She was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Pittsburgh to the late Archie and Lillie Ann (Gibson) Hopper and was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who lived for her family. She always could be relied upon to lend help to her family and friends, whatever their need.
She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of Gibsonia Presbyterian Church.
Mother of Lillie Ann (the Rev. William) Aiken, of North Bloomfield, Ohio; Lenore (Ed) Novak, of Richland, and Betty Hufford, of Phoenix, Ariz. Sister of Wilma Nelson and Jim Hopper, of Richland; Helen Fugh, of Mansfield, and William Hopper of Florida. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also predeceased by her husband, Wittmer J. Ferguson, whom she married on Thanksgiving 1938 and who died July 28, 1993. They were the first couple to be married in Gibsonia Presbyterian Church. Also predeceased by sisters Alma Shoop and Genevieve Prymas and brothers Archie, Lawrence, George and John Hopper.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gibsonia Presbyterian Church, 4003 Gibsonia Road, Richland, with the Revs. Darcy Hawk and William Aiken co-officiating. Interment will be in Hampton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to LAS-St. John Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenburg Way, Mars, PA 16046.
