Amelia F. Haffling, 73 of Wind Gap, died on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Trudie Pepe, with whom she was residing.
She was a former sewing machine operator for various blouse mills in the Slate Belt area before retiring in 1982. Born on February 22, 1925, in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Ruth (Smith) Hopper.
She was a member of the ILGWU, the women's League at the Salvation Army and St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Plainfield Twp. She was an avid church-goer.
She was the wife of the late Jeremiah A. Haffling who died in 1992 and her first husband, the late Clarence Sprague who died in 1959.
She is survived by three daughters, Trudie Page of Plainfield Twp., Gail Rodgers of Pen Argyl and Audrey Steiert of Wind Gap; a sister, Miriam Campanaro of Allentown; eleven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey and Harold Hopper and four sisters, Eloise Harris, Bertha Meyers, Ellave Schmoyer and Arlene Hopper.
Calling hours on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 200 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Road, Pen Argyl. Interment in Wind Gap Cemetery, Plainfield Twp.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice, in care of the funeral home.
