MARINETTE EAGLE, MAY 27, 1949. Fatal Attack at Daughter's Home, Mrs. Agnes Behnke Dies Unexpectedly.
Mrs. Agnes Behnke, 78, of 1308 Oakes street, died unexpectedly Friday at 3 p.m. while visiting at Carl Dietrich, of Menominee. She was stricken with a heart attack while crocheting. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony's church with the Rev. Leo Binder officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery. The body may be viewed at the McLain funeral home from Sunday evening until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Father Binder will lead the recitation of the rosary Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Behnke was born in Germany August 19, 1870, and came to this county at the age of 16 years. She lived in Marinette for 62 years. In 1888 she married Joseph Behnke, who was killed in a train accident in 1897. She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foreasters and St. Anthony's church. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence of Menominee and Joseph of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Olsen and Mrs. Agnes Olsen of Marinette and Mrs. Dietrich of Menominee. Also surviving are a brother, Joseph Hoppe of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Boehm of Racine. Mrs. Frances Behrendt of Marinette and Mrs. Alton Francour of Harmony; 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
