Patricia Ann Hopkins Arnolie | Visit Guest Book

Patricia Ann Hopkins Arnolie, 65 and a resident of Baton Rouge, was summoned to her heavenly home Friday, July 23, 2010. Patricia was a member and faithfully served at Neely United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge and Bethany United Methodist Church of New Orleans. Patricia was born to the late Jessie Gene Hopkins and Barbara Ann LaConta Hopkins Earthly. She was the stepdaughter of the Rev. John Earthly. She married Dr. James Robert Davis, M.D., and unto that union was born a daughter, Dr. Barbara "Babs" Lillian Davis, M.D. She later married Ronald Arnolie, and became stepmother to five stepchildren. Pat was a graduate of Dillard University of New Orleans. She received a degree in medical technology and was employed by La Roche Pharmaceutical Co., Howard University Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital. Patricia worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans as a medical technologist and hematology supervisor, where she remained a dedicated employee for 33 years. Pat also contracted her services to Baptist Memorial Hospital. Patricia was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., during which time she became one of the founders of the ABO's Annual Beautillion, served as the Tamichous of the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter and participated in various health and educational functions. Pat was a founder of 17 Inspirations Investment Club, a member of Classy Dozen Investment Club, owner of Forever Firm Toning Salon and Passive Reductions, a former Avon representative, Louisiana certified Realtor, briefly taught in the New Orleans public school system and showed special interest in various projects involving the educational development of children. She also became a foster parent. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughter, "Babs;" her loving parents, Barbara Ann Hopkins Earthly and the Rev. John Earthly; a sister, Dr. Sheila Marie Hopkins Ayorinde, M.D., of Springfield, Ill.; a stepsister, Antoinette Bienemy, Baton Rouge; a sister-in-law, Dr. Elaine Janice Davis, Ph.D.; four aunts, Scottie Rose LaConta Ripple, Peggy Ann Smith Dalcourt and Gloria Dean Smith and husband Andy Turner, all of Baton Rouge, and Helen M Hopkins, of Oakland, Calif.; three uncles, James and wife Hattie Hopkins, Sterling Smith and Harold Smith, all of Baton Rouge; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Gene Hopkins; her maternal grandparents, Helen Johnson LaConta and Moran Rudolph LaConta Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Catherine Thompson Hopkins Smith and Isaac Hopkins; three uncles, Robert LaConta, Robert Smith III and Russell E. Smith; and two aunts, Aline Bea Hopkins and Isadora Hopkins Wheelock. Visitation will be held at Neely United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 31, from 9 a.m. until homegoing celebration at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Brown, senior pastor. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements by Desselle Funeral Home (225) 383-8891.
