Daughter of Anthony Flynn and Ellen Walsh.

Mary and her husband John came to America in 1847 and first settled in Buffalo, Erie Co., NY.

12 Children:
1. John Patrick Hopkins was born 1858 in Buffalo, NY. He was the 29th and first Irish Catholic mayor of Chicago 1893-95. He died unmarried in 1918 and left his $2,000,000 estate to his six sisters and Miss Agnes M. Fay, a niece who resided with the Hopkins family.
