Eva L. Hiveley, 90, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Washington Township Cemetery in Duncombe. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Eva was born near Duncombe on June 17, 1919 to Edward and Carrie (Taylor) Hoover. She married Paul Hiveley on June 21, 1937 and they farmed the Hiveley farm until Paul died on February 9, 1970. Later she lived in Duncombe and enjoyed flowers, quilting and church activities. She was a longtime member of the Duncombe Methodist Church. She moved to Fort Dodge in 2002 to be closer to her family and to host Saturday morning coffee for many years.
Eva is survived by her children Pauline (Gene) Ruebel of Barnum, IA, Shirley Chase of Fort Dodge, Louellen (Richard) Steckelberg of Fort Dodge, Larry (Kim) Hiveley of Phoenix, AZ and Carol Tomlinson of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, 7 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the Duncombe Methodist Church or the Paula J. Baber Hospice House.
