|Birth: ||Apr. 4, 1850|
Julia A. is the daughter of Minerva Ann (Dyke) and Frederick Razor. She was born in Kentucky, most likely April 4, 1850, contrary to the the date on her memorial stone of 1852. She married to Andrew J. Hoover, in McLean County, Illinois, on February 6, 1868. She died in 1899. Julia Razor Hoover rests in peace beside her husband, Andrew J. Hoover and also next to her brother, Jacob Razor, in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, McLean County, IL 61752. Her grave can be located on Map 3, Block 11, Lot 3, West 1/2, South 1/4, Plot 3; with husband Andrew in plot 4, brother Jake in plot 2 and a memorial to her sister Bell Razor in plot 1.
"The History of McLean County" states Julia's birth was April 4, 1850.
The 1850 Census taken on Sept 6th, records Julia to be 6 months of age.
LeRoy Library Cemetery Card records 1852.
Julia's memorial stone is engraved 1852.
Even in 1879, publishers made errors. However in this case, I tend to trust the year 1850. It's highly doubtful the census taker recorded someone who was not yet born. "The History of McLean County" gives a full date (at a time when first hand witnesses were alive) and the 1850 Census bears it out. The library card is based on the memorial stone. I have discovered that even things etched in stone by loved ones can be mistaken. It's possible her birth could be April 4, 1852, but not probable.
