Viola M. "Vi" Hoover, 90, of Clarence died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Hoover was born January 1, 1918, at Sandy Hook, Kentucky, the daughter of William Walker and Minnie McGuire Atkins. She married Jack H. Hoover September 6, 1940, at Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2000.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Glenn) Polson of Paxton, Linda Hoover of Tuscola and Nancy (Tom) Ashley of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Tara (Bryan) Schmeiser, J. T. Ashley, Brett Polson, Dana (Greg) Francis, Jennifer (Adam) Holleman; two great-grandsons, Zach Francis and Josh Francis; one brother, Glenn (Josephine) Atkins of Paxton and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and six brothers.
At the age of 7, she and her family moved to rural Downs where she attended school. She and her husband moved to rural Paxton around 1931. Mrs. Hoover was a homemaker and loved the simple life. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, bird watching, puzzles, was an avid Cub fan, enjoyed reading, mainly mysteries and biographies and enjoyed decorating.
