Shirley "Shirl" Hoover

Loving Wife, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother Shirley "Shirl" M. Hoover, 59, (known to her family and close friends as "the Blonde Cook") of Millcreek Twp., died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous four year battle against cancer.

She was born in Erie on April 13, 1951, the daughter of Lillian C. Schnell Prindle and the late Allen L. Prindle.

Shirl was a 1969 graduate of Tech Memorial High School.

She was the owner of "Shirley's Country Kitchen" since 1995.

Her love was spending time with her grandchildren and doing for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City with her special group of friends. She took pride in having her own business and serving the people of Erie. Over the past 25 years she managed accommodations at the Millcreek Mall when Santa and the Easter Bunny came to town.

Shirley was part owner of the Liberty Plaza Restaurant and owned Lil's and Shirley's Country Kitchen Restaurant. She took pleasure in serving her customers food made to their personal preference and once she was caught up with her orders she would grab a cup of coffee and go chat with them. She enjoyed going out for dinner with friends and family; she would say "having someone cook for me is my treat for the day." She was very supportive of benefits and fundraisers in the Erie area; a very loving, caring, and giving person who will always be in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn A. Hoover, whom she married on November 8, 1986; two sisters, Kimberly Young (James), and Jean E. Prindle; two brothers, Robert M. Prindle (Jeannine), and David A. Prindle; one son, Brian K. Fullerton; one daughter, Ronnie A. Fullerton; two step-daughters, Nicole A. Marton (Scott), and Stacey M. Hoover; one step-son, Glenn A. Hoover, II, all of Erie. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Christina, Ken, Casey, Rylee, Ben, Adam, and Glenn III; and nieces and nephews, Stef, Tim, Caleb, Lucas, Angela, and Vicki.

Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, on Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 8p.m., and are invited there on Monday at 10 a.m. for the funeral service conducted by the Rev. David McIlvried.

Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
