MRS DICK AEILTS, September 26 1939. Mrs Dick Aeilts died at her home in
north Ellsworth Tuesday afternoon, death coming to her to release her from months of
suffering, the last few weeks of which had been intense. Everything possible was done to
relieve her and to make her last day easier to bear, and through it all she was most patient
and thoughtful of those about her. She was slightly more than 53 years old.
Her maiden name was Amke Hoogestraat. Born in Kloster Sielmonken, Ostfriesland on
April 3 1886 she was the eldest of eight children. She was married to Dick Aeilts in
Freepsum June 6 1904, starting out life together at Wolthusen and living there until the
spring of 1914 when they emigrated to America. They cast their lot in this vicinity,
farming several different farms until 1932 when they moved to Ellsworth. Of the ten
children born to her two died in early childhood during the farnily's residence in Germany.
The surviving children are: Tena, Mrs Dick Dirks and Pearl, Mrs Simon Snuttjer, both of
George Iowa; Richard and Peter, both serving in the Armed Forces of the United States;
Ella, Mrs Albert Buss, of northwest of Ellsworth; and Herman, Harry and Frederick, at
home. Besides these she leaves her mother in Pewsum Ostfriesland and several brothers
and sisters, all living in Germany§
Funeral services will take place Friday from the Presbyterian church in Ellsworth.
Interment will be in the Grand Prairie cemetery.
