Wanda Hood Addy, 69, of Chicota, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and servant of the Lord, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, from her home.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Chicota Baptist Church in Chicota, with the Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. Interment: Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris.
Wanda was born Aug. 28, 1938, in Dallas, a daughter of Leonard Wayne and Geneva Weaver Hood. She married John Seay "Chief" Addy on June 24, 1956, in Dallas, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 24, 2006, with their family. She was a homemaker and an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Euless from 1967 until 1997, retiring to Chicota in 1997. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram published an article celebrating her service with the U.S. Postal Service when she retired.
While living in Grapevine for 35 years, she was a member of Pleasant Glade Baptist Church, where she served the Lord in many ways. As a member of Chicota Baptist Church, she served as a choir member, taught in Sunday school and was involved in many other missions.
Survivors: Her husband, John Seay "Chief" Addy; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Wayne Addy and Neta of Longview, Samuel Quinton Addy and Karen of Colleyville and John Ross Addy and Susan of Grapevine; mother, Geneva Asbill; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Joe Todora of Dallas; and many other relatives and friends.
