Irene Hood Fallin died at Longleaf Nursecare Center on Sunday, February 20, 2005, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph Clinton Fallin. Services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Father Ned Head officiating. Interment will be at Saints' Rest Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
Irene was born in Hilly, Louisiana, on July 26, 1922. She was a long time employee at Hunt Lumber and later Williamette Industries. She and Joe were active members of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth program. However, what she will be remembered most for is her role as a loving mother and grandmother.
Irene was a lifelong resident of Ruston and is survived by her son, Jimmy Fallin and his wife Vici Jones Fallin of Georgetown, Texas. Other survivors include her brother, M. L. Hood and wife Marie of Dubach, sister Susie Woodard of Ruston, sister Alice Love and husband Don of Ruston and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren Elizabeth Drew Fallin Manning and her husband Rodney of Ruston, Laura Catherine Fallin Ferguson and her husband Jeff of Buda, Texas, and great-grandchildren Matthew Paul and Mary-Margaret Elizabeth Manning, James Henry, Catherine Michelle, and Jackson Hays Ferguson.
