Hope M. Hood, of Bradenton, known to her friends and family as Nadja, died at home on December 2nd, 2011.Besides her parents and two brothers, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Hood.Nadja Dedick was born June 7, 1927. Her parents were the Rev. and Mrs. Andrew P. Dedick. She grew up in Osceola Mills, Pa. in a wonderful Christian home with her parents, her two brothers and sister. In 1957, while living in Maryland, she returned to college after having three children, to complete her under-graduate degree and then received a Masters degree in international affairs. She then worked in a variety of positions, focusing on coordinating and administering training programs serving students and government officials from Latin America. She culminated her career as a program specialist informing returning veterans about educational programs and opportunities available to them. Upon moving to Florida with her husband in 1986, she became an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Daughters of The king, and developed a church book store.Nadja served on the Boards of the Art League of Manatee County, The Episcopal Church Women and the Manatee Chaplaincy Board. She enjoyed volunteering as a literary tutor at the Voca-tional Technical Institute. In her spare time, she took up painting. While her time was spent working in the church and in the community, her love centered mainly on her family. She was devoted to her three children, Sandy, Keith and Fred, her 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 7, 5:00-7:00p.m. at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Service will be held Thursday, December 8, 10:00a.m. at Christ Epicopal Church, 4030 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery.
