Luella Amelia Mick Honey, daughter of William R. and Ida Mott Mick, was born September 27, 1883 at Atlantic, Iowa, and passed away at the Holton hospital on Friday, August 30, 1968 at the age of 84 years and 11 months.
When she was about 9 years of age, the family moved to Carroll, Nebraska. There she finished her formal schooling, met and married Edward LeRoy Honey on October 12, 1904. Shortly thereafter the couple, along with her sister and brother-in-law who had been married with them at the same time in a double wedding ceremony, moved to Carson, North Dakota, where the two families homesteaded. Two children, Naomi and Don, were born to this union.
Near the end of World War I the family returned to Carroll. In 1922 they moved to Holton where Mrs. Honey has since resided.
She was a member of the First United Methodist church, the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Rebekah Lodge and the Friendship Circle all of Holton.
Mrs. Honey was known and is remembered by her family and friends primarily as a housewife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband just last February 24.
Survivors include her two children, Mrs. Naomi Bockhouse of East Moline, Illinois and Donald W. Honey of Holton; one grandson, George Edward Bockhouse of Silvas, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Sadie McNaughton of Long Beach, California; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Leona Mick of Holton; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held at the Mercer Funeral Home on September 3 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Don Hammerli officiated. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Larry Zwonitzer. Pallbearers were: Leo Grannell, Harold Sinning, Bob Baum, Glenn Rogers, Leonard Kimmell and Dale Coffman.
Interment was in the Holton Cemetery.
