Mrs. Christine H. Cook, 79, a native of Wayne County and resident of Shubuta, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at her residence. She had worked as Activity Director at Restful Acres Nursing Home. Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Cook; parents, Eli Holyfield and Mamie Holyfield; brother, Elbert Holyfield; sister, Genell McAdams. She is survived by her son, Alvin Cook (Sherry) of Waynesboro; daughter, Wanda Horne (Curtis) of Meridian; brother, Edward Holyfield (Yvonne) of Waynesboro; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Cook (Jessica) of Waynesboro, Alesha Horne of Meridian, Megan Cook of Waynesboro, Arial Horne of Meridian; 2 great-grandchildren, Braisen Clark and Kenton Cook. Visitation for Mrs. Cook will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro with Rev. Kenny Morris officiating. Interment will be in Hiwanee Cemetery.
