Rozella C. Freitag, 95, of West Point, Iowa passed away at 10:21 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, at the West Point Care Center in West Point, Iowa.

Born on February 1, 1923 in West Point, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. S. P. and Elinor (Winnike) Holtz. On November 4, 1944, she married Alve Freitag at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1993.

Survivors include two sons: Don (Becky) Freitag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Gary (Jolene) Freitag of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter: Pat (George) Smith of St. Louis Missouri; eight grandchildren: Suzanne (Michael) Van Der Bosch, Stephen Smith, Sarah (Joe) Pupillo, David (Maria) Freitag, Elizabeth (Mark) Broders, Michael Freitag, Brandon (Rita) Freitag, and Amanda Freitag; two brothers: Delmar Holtz of St. Joseph, Missouri and Carl (Rita) Holtz of West Point, Iowa; one sister: Imelda Groene of West Point; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter: Judy Ann, one sister: Lucy, and one brother: Lester.

Rozella was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary. She was a 1940 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Rozella's children and grandchildren were by far the most important thing in her life. She also enjoyed playing cards.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Schmitz Funeral Home in West Point where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Father Dennis Hoffman as celebrant.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
