Mrs. Holtz was born in 1930 in Centerville, Iowa, to John and Opal Stevens. She graduated from Moravia High School. On April 12, 1960, she married Karl H. Holtz in Unionville, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1975. She worked at Industrial Engineering, repairing electrical motors. Her memberships included V.F.W. Auxiliary Independent Order of Foresters and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed going to the Temple with members of the church. For several years she moved "back home," as she would say, and resided in Moravia, Iowa, near her close companion Leroy Wilson and friend Ronnie McCloy. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers.
Survivors include her daughter, Leota I. (John) Clark of Mystic, Iowa, and Karla Holtz (Gene) Eggert of Davenport; son, Lonnie K. (Debra) Holtz of Moline; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ireta Cook of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Ethel McClurg of Moulton, Iowa; brother, Clyde Stevens of Centerville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi McCoy, and her close companion, Leroy Wilson.
