AXTELL--Cornelius "Knip" Joseph Holthaus, 93, Axtell, died Friday, Oct, 18, 1996, at a Seneca nursing home.

Mr. Holthaus was a farmer. He raised cattle for many years north of Axtell.

He was born Sept. 12, 1903, in Baileyville, the son of Frank H. and Josephine Rethman Holthaus. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in St. Benedict.

Mr. Holthaus was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Axtell.

He married Mildred Hasenkamp on June 18, 1941, at Axtell. She died April 9, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Cornelius and Kieran, both of Axtell; three brothers, Gregory, Axtell, and Cyril and Ben, both of Seneca; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, north of Axtell.
