He was a good conversationalist, perfectly at ease in any crowd, which he could entertain from his store of rich experiences gained through years of mixing with humanity as it flowed to and from across the continent behind the steam horse. He was courteous, obliging and accommodating, always solicitous for the unfortunate, the weaker and the needy."
He was a member of the higher Masonic orders and the Rose Croix services were held for him at Spokane where his friends of that city and fraternal brothers paid their last tribute to him.
His death was from a heart attack. His funeral service was held at the Harrington Community Congregational Church.
