Russell LeRoy Hollenback, Jr.
08/26/1941 - 07/10/2011

Russell L. Hollenback Jr., age 69, of Tecumseh, passed away Sunday, July 10. He was born August 26, 1941 in Scranton, PA, the son of Russell L. and Romayne Mae (Hoffman) Hollenback Sr. On June 15, 1968 he married Nancy Shultz in Ann Arbor, MI and she survives.

Russell worked in Quality Assurance at Ford Motor Company in Saline for 36 years before retiring in 2004. He moved to Tecumseh in 1976 coming from Ann Arbor. Russell was involved as a volunteer for the Department of Aging and Meals on Wheels, and drove people to dialysis treatments when needed. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and "snack director" of the AWANA program. Russell was an avid golfer, fisherman, and history buff and enjoyed spending time refinishing furniture. He was known to be a "Duct Tape Aficionado", but mostly for his sense of humor and zest for life, laughter and jokes. He will be remembered as a loyal and trusting friend and to his family he was the ultimate husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Russell is survived by his mother, Romayne Hollenback of Tecumseh; sons, Jed (Angela) Hollenback of Dearborn, MI and Kurt (Alexis) Hollenback of Arvada, CO; his daughters, Jennifer Knight of Tecumseh and Sarah (Chad) Bilkey of Mattawan, MI; his brother Drs. David (Sharon) Hollenback of Syracuse, NY; his sister Suzanne (Clifford) Hill of Warsaw, IN; his grandchildren, Natalie, Nikole, Jaedon, Iris, Taylor, Ella and Olivia; his great grandson, Jordan; his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved Basset Hounds, Doc and Magnum. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation for Russell will be from 2 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes and from 12 - 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at the church with the Rev. Richard Mortimer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh.
