Mary was the daughter of James and Mary Holland. She immigrated about 1865. She married Lucius Clark Curtis in Boston on June 26, 1865. He was a Civil War veteran receiving a pension, a farmer and teamster.
They settled in New Gloucester where Lucius's parents' lived. In 1870 the household included Lucius's recently widowed mother and Mary's younger sister Martha, who had some type of physical disability. Lucius and Mary lived in New Gloucester most of their married lives, though lived in Wakefield, Massachusetts, after 1900.
The 1900 census said Mary had had three births, with two children living. These were Grace and Julia.
Lucius died in 1907. Mary maintained the home in Wakefield, living with her sister, Martha.
