Lillie Bell 'Mama' Holifield-- A native of Marion, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for over 60 years, departed this life January 3, 2006. Lillie Bell was born the 16th day of September 1916 to the late L.R. & Malinda Whitsett. She was a member of Senior Companion Program, and many political leaders' campaign and Josephine Allen Tenants Association. She was a devoted and faithful member of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, where she served on the Stewardess Board #1. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charlie Holifield, Sr., son, Joe D. Holifield, 3 sisters, 9 brothers, grandchildren, Carlos, Darrly, Wanda, Jettis, and Maurice Jr. Her memories will be cherished by her devoted and loving children, Elouise Munnerlyn, Charlie Bell (Alvin) Hardin, Mattie, Mary, Melinda, Deborah (Robert) Moore, Absalom, Broderick Holifield, Millie (Theodore) Hardy, Charlie (Regina) Holifield, Gollie (Wilson) Crawford, Douglas (Felicia) Holifield, Shirely (Milton) Rivers, Michael (Patricia) Holifield; a devoted grandson, Maurice (Orlene) Holifield of Mobile; 58 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Rozell Martin of Marion, AL, Juilette Bowels of Portland, OR, Willie M. (James) Dunn of Chicago, IL, Bessie (Eli) Hewitt of Hindsville, Al, Ruby Cannon of Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers, Theopolis (Lennie) Woods, Amos (Beatrice) Woods, Ernest (Mary) Woods, Gordon (Maggie) Woods all of Chicago, IL and Joe (Mildred) Woods of Simon Island, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, Paulphine (Johnny) Nelson, Ruby L. Slay of Kenner, LA, Willie M. Whitsett, Ella (John) Bettis, Ray Sanders, John D. Whitsett, Barbara (John) Lipcomb of Mobile; devoted friends, Major Osbourne, Lizetta Shinn, Lelia Baldwin; caregivers, Felicia Coleman, Vanessa Shinn, Marquetta Holifield, Michelle Gibbs; 'Mama' as she was called touched many lives especially Darrell McBride, James Blackmon, Latonza (Jermaine) Bunn, Jacqueline (Tony) Coleman, Marquetta (Carlton) Tubbs. Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Chapel, 701 Dr. M.L. King Ave., Mobile, AL 36603 and on Saturday, January 14, at Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion, 268 St. Charles Ave., from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon funeral hour with Rev. Clarence J. Cooke, Sr., Pastor and officiating. Interment to follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to HODGE'S CHAPEL L.L.C 701 Dr. M.L. King Avenue Mobile, Alabama 36603
