Clarence L. Hohne, 1924-2006, Emporia, Kan.

Clarence Leo Hohne, 82, of Emporia, Kan., died Monday, June 26, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 18, 1924, in Olpe, Kan., a son of Theodore and Elizabeth Lutz Hohne. On June 23, 1952, in Emporia, he was married to Mary A. Lamb, who survives of the home.

Mr. Hohne was an oiler and an engineer for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. He retired as a clerk for the company in January 1986, after 39 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ball-McColm Post 5 of the American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post 1980 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Emporia.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served from June 23, 1942, to Feb. 7, 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater participating in underwater demolition and amphibious landing operations. He was in the Naval Reserves from 1946 to 1952. He was a motor machinist mate, third class.

Also surviving are two sons, . . . ; a daughter, . . . ; a sister, . . . ; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Hohne Jr.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, with the Rev. Pete O'Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Emporia. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to Hand in Hand Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
