YORK - LaVerne Amelia Bouve', 88, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Manor Care Health Services-South.
She was the wife of Walter L. C. Bouve' of York. Mr. and Mrs. Bouve' celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on January 8th. Born July 11, 1920 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaretta (Doyle) Hofmann. She was a former elementary teacher for both the West York School District and Dover School District.
LaVerne was a graduate of Schenley High School and York College of PA. She was a member of the Republican Club of York County and helped with Todd Platts election campaign. She was a former captain of the Heart Fund in York and a member of the York Chapter of the Steelers Fan Club. She enjoyed and loved her family and especially spending time with them. She also enjoyed music and cooking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Michelle A. Oerman and her husband Roy of York; a son, Lt. Commander Joel L. Bouve' and his wife, Tracey of Corpus Christi, Texas; and 6 grandchildren, Anne House and her husband, Bryan, Amy Wintermyer and her husband, Ryan, John Dunlop and his wife, Jolynn, Frank Dunlop and his wife, Stephanie, Courtney Bouve', and Cole Bouve'. She will be sadly missed by her 10 great grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, and Stefanie Sprenkle; Alexis and Madison Wintermyer; Zoeie and Averie Dunlop; Kilee and Caysee Dunlop; and Isaiah House. LaVerne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Bouve'.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7th at 4 p.m., at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York, with Pastor William Hake officiating. A viewing will be held Saturday from 3-4 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alyssa Bouve' Memorial Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Awareness, 13910 Hawksnest Bay Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78418 or the Alzheimer's Association of South Central PA, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
