As a boy David and his brother Richard played cowboys and Indians with Indian children friends in Oklahoma. He always laughed as he told us how he and Richard had to be the Indians because their Indian friends insisted on being the cowboys. Both brothers were very close and only 1 ½ years apart. They did everything together.
The other always blamed the other one for getting in trouble. They became even closer in their older years. Richard Hoffman (brother) always claimed to quote "That's another fine miss you got me into."
David also was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and graduated with a degree in business administration. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity – He enjoyed playing football as fullback.
David went to OCS (Officer Candidate School) and on the first day on the playing field, he set the record for the javelin throw. David Hoffman served in the army as a captain in the artillery.
After service in the military David became the District Manager for Laclede Steel Plant in Tampa, Florida., and was responsible for laying all the rebar in approximately 1/3 of the high rises in Miami Florida at that time. He later went into real estate business and was an active member of the Million Dollar Club.
Furthermore David was a 3rd generation Mason and rose to the 32nd degree. He was awarded his fifty year certificate as a mason on January 1st 2007.
