MRS. J.R. PURNELL DIED WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Jennie E. Purnell, who was born in
Crisfield and lived here most of her life, but of
late resided near Westover, died in a hospital
in Salisbury Wednesday morning, following an
illness of several months. She was 85 years of
age. She was the daughter of the late David
and Betty Ward Hoffman, and the widow of the
late George T. Purnell, who was a seafood
dealer here for many years, and who died in
1932. Mrs Purnell was a most loveable person,
kind sympathetic, neighborly, and she had a
host of friends in the community. She had
been an active member of Mt Pleasant
Methodist Church for a long time. Her main
interests were husband and family but in her
busy life she found time to be of help in many
ways to many people.

Funeral services will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Bradshaw &
Sons Funeral Home here, conducted by the
Rev. Addison L. Smith, pastor of Mt Pleasant
Methodist Church.

Burial will be in the family plot in the Crisfield
Cemetery.

Surviving her are two sons, Paul Fisher of
Kecoughtan. Va, and Marvin R. Purnell of
Crisfield; two daughters. Mrs Bessie Mitchell
of Washington, D. C.,and Mrs. Louis Banks of
Kingston; two grandchildren, Mrs Jackie
Qualls of Washington, D. C. and Mr. Jerry
Purnell of this city: three great-grandchildren:
two brothers, G. William Hoffman of Elizabeth,
N J , and Archie Hoffman of Baltimore: and
one sister, Mrs. Carrie Messick of Marion
Station.

Friends may call at the Bradshaw & Sons
Funeral Home this evening. Friday, after
7:00 p m.
