Rodney E. Hoff

Rodney E. HOFF, 26, Rt. 5 (Westhaven Estates), Warsaw, formerly of Akron, died at 3:33 p.m. Thursday at his home. Death was by self-inflicted carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Kosciusko County Coroner John SADLER.

He was born Oct. 17, 1962 in Wabash County to George and Ruth STEININGER HOFF. On Aug. 6, 1983 in Akron, he married Penny SHAFFER, who survives. He had been employed at Daulton Foundries, Warsaw, since 1979. He attended North Miami High School and Tippecanoe Valley High School, and had been a member of the 151st Battalion of the Indiana National Guard.

Surviving with the wife are the parents; a daughter, Peni Nikole [HOFF], and a son, Dustin [HOFF], both at home; a sister, Mrs. Bruce (Theresa) FLOYD, Albion; a brother, Paul [HOFF], Akron, and the maternal grandmother, Alice STEININGER, Rochester.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Lowell BURRUS officiating. Burial will be in the Akron Cemetery, where the National Guard will conduct services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Shriners.
