Kokomo Tribune - Tuesday, October 25, 1932:

Samuel G. Hoff, age 35 years, for more than thirty years a resident of Kokomo, died suddenly at his home on South Courtland Avenue at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning.

Mr. Hoff had not been in the best of health for many months, but his illness had not appeared critical. He arose as usual early Tuesday morning, dressed and walked about the house. Death apparently came very suddenly, for members of the family found him in one of the rear rooms of the house with life almost extinct but a few moments after he had spoken with them.

The deceased was born in Richland County, Ohio, on January 17, 1847. He came to LaGrange County, Indiana when ten years of age and later received a part of his schooling at Poughkeepsie, New York. During twenty-six years of his life, he was a teacher and from 1900 to about 1910, he was the principal of ward schools in this city, serving at Lincoln and Meridian buildings,

After leaving his teaching work, he engaged in the grocery business here for several years, but of late has not been engaged in business.

The survivors include the widow and one brother, Andrew, of Wisconsin. Although definite arrangements for the funeral have not been completed, the service will probably be held at the home at 10 o'clock Thursday morning.
