Mrs. Elizabeth Clement, 87, of 1921 North Flint Hill Road, Chatham, passed Friday afternoon, August 28, 2009, at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born June 10, 1922, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Scott Hodnett and Mrs. Lou Emma Dickerson Hodnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Clement; two sisters, Ruby Virginia Reynolds and Emma Pearl Hodnett; and two brothers, William Stanford Hodnett and Raleigh Lindburgh Hodnett. Mrs. Clement was a graduate of West Virginia State University and attended Hampton University. She was a former teacher with the Pittsylvania County School System and a member of the Callands Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, Pastor's Aid and Hospitality Committees and Treasurer of the Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the United Order of Tents No. 323, the Auxiliary Committee of the Pittsylvania County School Board from 1970-1972 and as the "Rose" of Callands. She is survived by three daughters, Faye Elizabeth Clement of Irvine, CA, Tanya Cherise Clement, of Chatham, and Renata Dawn Clement, of Brooklyn, NY; one son, Jerry Lee Clement, of Chatham; a sister-in-law, Lucille Clement, of Brooklyn, NY; a brother-in-law, William B. Clement (Mildred), of Chester; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Callands Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Obadele St. George and the Rev. B. Angeloe Burch Sr. as officiant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Miller Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
