She was born the daughter of Leonard and Irene (Pine) Hodges. She was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School class of 1959. On March 1, 1962 she married Chuck Egbert. They moved to Baraga from Lansing in 1972.
Phyllis was an employee of Ojibwa Enterprises in Baraga. She enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, being around family and friends and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga, Baraga Lunberjack Days Committee, Baraga Fire Department Auxiliary and Baraga Women's Bowling Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister-in-law, Kay Egbert.
Surviving are her husband, two sons, Leonard and Toni of Baraga and Steven of Manistee; two daughters, Tamara and Stacey of Holt, MI and Kimberly and Rob of Baraga; seven grandchildren, Casey, Chelsea and Christopher, Hope, Danika, Michael and Kelsey, one brother, Keith of Bradenton, FL; and one sister-in-law, Sandy of Lansing. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral Mass was held on November 10, 1999, at St Ann's with Fr. Paul Manderfield officiating.
