Howard Charles Hocking 85, of 797 15th, died this morning at the McKay-Dee Hospital of complications following surgery.

Mr. hocking was born Jan 1, 1891, in La Salle, Ill., a son of William James and Anna Nash Hocking.

On June 26, 1920, he was married to marvel Susanna Hodson in Pocatello, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in July of 1956.

He had been a truant officer in the Ogden City schools for 26 years, retiring in 1961. He was the last truant officer employed by the city schools.

He served with the Army in World War I. He was educated in Illinois. He moved to Idaho from Illinois, and came to Ogden in 1916.

He was a high priest in the Lorin Farr LDS Ward, and had been secretary of the elder’s quorum and home teacher. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Barracks 1011.

Surviving are his widow of Ogden; Three daughters, Mrs. Eugene L. (Margaret) Talbot, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Robert E. (Ethel) Enger, Foster City, Calif.; Mrs. Harold M. (Charlene) Robertson, Kaysville; nine grandchildren and ? great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Edith) Dwornik, Feru, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Henrietta) Hoffman, Cttawa, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Lindquist and sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop John R. Hall of the Lorin Farr Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
