Olive May Bull, 84, was born in Scotland County, MO, December 7, 1915, a daughter of John Richard and Dora Olive Forquer Hocking and departed this life September 21, 2000, while a resident of the Scotland County Residential Terrace, Memphis, MO. She lived her young adult life in and around Gorin, MO, attending school at Chaney and the Gorin High School, from which she graduated in 1933. Olive then attended Kirksville State Teachers College from 1936 graduating in the summer of 1939, with a teaching degree. She taught school in several different rural school districts in Scotland County, MO, until her retirement. On March 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Chan H. Bull in Scotland County, MO. They resided on the Bull farm near Brock, MO. until she entered the Residential Terrace in August of 2000. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was pianist and an active member of the Brock Church for many years until it's closing in June of 2000, when she moved her membership to the United Methodist Church in Gorin, MO. She was also a member of the B.P.W., the Missouri Teachers Association, and the Retired Teachers Association. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Chan; two sisters, Jean Miller and husband Leland, Sylvia Gile and her husband, Fred, and two sons-in-law, Blackie Cowell and Dan Hinds. Survivors include children, Stanley Bull and wife, Pat, Carolyn Hinds and Marilyn Cowell, all of Scotland County, MO; nine grandchildren, Debbie Burns and husband Dave, Ginger Bull, Ched Bull and wife Jeannie, Jeff Hinds, Jed Hinds and wife Kari, Jan Meeks and husband Doug, Ranee Brayton and husband Denny, Kena Hirner and husband Bill, and Tim Cowell; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were September 24, 2000, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Reverends Charles Hammack and Carol Blackwell officiating. Music was furnished by two great-granddaughters, Abbi McClellan and Mikaela Hirner with organist Joan Goosey. Body bearers were Brad Burns, Jed Hinds, David Burns, Matthew Burns, Tim Cowell, Nathan Plenge, Jeff Hinds, and Ched Bull. Honorary bearers were Phil Duley, Phil Aylward, Roger L. Riebel, John Aylward, and Steve Morris. Interment was in the Brock Cemetery, Scotland County, MO. Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, was in charge of services.
