OAKWOOD - Williford A. "Will" Hockett, 69, of Oakwood, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday (June 18, 1997) at Carle Foundation Hospital.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Greenville, Ill., the son of Archie and Catherine (Riggins) Hockett. He married Marilyn Myatt on Dec. 23, 1953, in Greenville, Ill. She survives. Also surviving: a son, Steven (Jenny) Hockett of Thompson Station, Tenn.; three daughters, Karen Diane (Lonnie) Kessinger of Greenville, Ill., Nola Kathryn Atchison of Danville and Kimberly (Brad) Jones of Lafayette, Ind.; two brothers, Curtis Raymond and John Franklin Hockett, both of Greenville; a sister, Norma Baurer of Altamont; eight grandchildren.
He taught at Oakwood High School and then taught at Danville Area Community College for 26 years, retiring in 1992. He then ran Hockett Real Estate. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Danville Area Board of Realtors. He had served on both the Oakwood School Board and the Oakwood Village Board. He enjoyed woodworking, building and fishing.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at Lakeside Funeral Chapel; Officiating: Rev. John Fullmer; Burial: Oakwood Cemetery; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home; Memorials: Oakwood Library or donor's choice.
