Jane Talmage Hocker Anderson, 70, of Owensboro, Kentucky died March 15, 2011, at her residence surrounded by the family she loved so much. Jane was a fighter, surviving three types of cancer for more than six years. Her determination, strength and will to endure so many treatments was amazing. Jane's spirit and optimism were an inspiration to her family and friends and her willingness to undergo numerous research protocols will undoubtedly help unknown numbers of cancer patients in their own battles. She was a graduate of Owensboro High School, had attended Florida Southern University and Kentucky Wesleyan College where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, was a lifelong member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, volunteered at the Wendell Foster Center and the Help Office, and was a member of the Junior League of Owensboro. She played golf, enjoyed fishing with multiple cane poles, gardening, decorating and welcoming friends and family into her home. Jane was a licensed Real Estate Broker and had worked with her father in the family business, worked as Lease Administrator in the family shopping center business and ultimately retired from David Hocker and Associates. She loved sports, especially baseball, and found her greatest joy in watching her sons and then her grandchildren participate in youth and college sports. A very vocal spectator, Jane was known to do some "grandstand" coaching. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Talmage and Margaret McClanahan Hocker and her husband of 45 years, Richard Kermit Anderson.

Survivors include her sons; Keith Anderson and his wife Stacy, Kurt Anderson and Christie all of Owensboro, and Kevin Anderson of Lexington; granddaughter, Chelsea Anderson; grandsons, Zachary Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Ben Anderson and Brian Anderson; brother, David Hocker of Owensboro; sisters Christy Hall and her husband Sonny of Owensboro and Pat Riddle and her husband Bill of Lexington; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins; along with her beloved collies, Canuck, Molly and Itsy.

Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Settle Memorial United Methodist Church Good Samaritan Fund, Hospice of Western Kentucky, or the Kentucky Wesleyan College Talmage and Margaret Hocker Scholarship Fund.
