Funeral services were held for Edna "Juanita" Hobby Easterling, 80, of Lucedale on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with soloist John Baldwin of Fairhope, Ala.

Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Bill Poole and Rev. Bill Bohanick conducting the services.

A homemaker, accomplished seamstress and active member and teacher at First United Methodist Church of Lucedale where she was a devoted participant in the Disciple program for many years, she died December 25, 2008.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Van Buren Easterling, Jr., of Lucedale; four children, Vanita Easterling of Dallas, Texas, Patsy Easterling (Gary) Jones of Fairhope, Ala., Van (Madeline Bang) Easterling, III of Lucedale and Heather Easterling (Anthony) Bonney of Clinton, NC.; nine grandchildren, Thomas and Evan Easterling of Dallas, Texas, L. Renee Jones (Andy) Webb of Flower Mound, Texas, T. Derek (Pan) Jones of Frisco, Texas, Deborah Leah Jones (David) Clawson of Fayetteville, Ark., Bethany Easterling (Drew) Patch of Lucedale, Suanna Easterling (Ben) Kendrick of Lucedale, Ashton Easterling (J. D.) Blankenship of Lucedale and Gabrielle Bonney of Clinton, NC; ten great grandchildren, Garrett and Ryan Webb of Flower Mound, Texas, Brandon, Cameron and Jared Jones of Frisco, Texas, Amanda and T. J. Clawson of Fayetteville, Ark., Ella Patch of Lucedale and Zoe and Jorgia Blankenship of Lucedale; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hobby Marlborough of Hattiesburg, Evelyn Hobby Brown of Port Arthur, Texas and Opal Hobby Noel of Alvin, Texas; and one aunt, Jewel Hobby Havard of Forest.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Leah Easterling of Lucedale; her sister, Laverne Hobby Hicks, her brother, Charles Wallace Hobby; and parents, Dudley Hoyt and Edna Ray Ball Hobby.

Pallbearers included Danny Moore, Anthony Bonney, Andrew Patch, J. D. Blankenship, Derek Jones and Andy Webb.
