Information from "Some Gave All, Personal Stories of Sacrifice", written by Carolyn E. Abell, c. 2011 by Tift Genealogical Society and published by Family Heritage Publishers of Murray, Utah page 63:

"Eugene Hobby was the son of Wright Hobby, mother's name unknown. He had siblings, Pauline, Warren and Ralph. He volunteered for the Army on 10 February 1941. He was single, and had completed two years of high school. His father moved to Tifton to work on the Police Force and was notified there that his son had died in World War II action . Eugene survived the Pearl Harbor attack but was with General McArthur's forces on Luzon Island of the Philippines when he was killed. According to the web site, {Home for Heroes}, he was awarded a Silver Star Medal for extreme valor. His body was unrecoverable. He was survived by his father, sister Pauline, and brother, Warren Hobby of Fitzgerald, GA"
