Death Claims Mrs. Walker
The funeral service for Mrs. Alice Hobby Walker was held Monday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Perry Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Walker who was the widow of Walter J. Walker died unexpectedly on Saturday Aug. 30. Bringing words of comfort were he pastor, the Rev. Ernest Morey, in the funeral service after which she was laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery. Two favorite hymns, "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross", were sung. Pallbearers were David Lee, Bill Lee, John Lee, Larry Walker, Gary Walker, and Dale Walker. Burial was at Rose Hill. Mrs. Walker was born Feb. 13, 1896 in Turner County. She was as an employee at Gold Kist Peanut Co., for many years. She had retired because of her health. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Oakfield-Baptist Church and had made her home for three and a half years at Oakfield prior to her death. Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late George W. Hobby and Mrs. Mary Smith Hobby. Survivors are her son, Charles Walker of Ashburn, and her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy W. Lee of Oakfield. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Steve Brown of Cordele, and ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
