Florence Shirley Rogerson passed away March 8, 2011 at the age of 82 in St. George, Utah. She was born February 3, 1929 in Baileyboro, Texas to Lomas Ball Hobbs and Nova Juanita Hughes and raised in Madera, California. Florence married Clinton Harvey Rogerson in Oakland, California on July 24, 1949. As a teenager Shirley attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Madera. She sang in the church choir and also with a traveling trio which she accompanied on the accordion and piano.
She attended Madera Union High School and graduated with Honors and was a Gold Seal Bearer. She attended Oakland Bible College. She taught Special Ed. Students at Calvary Assembly Church in Inglewood. She worked as an Executive Secretary at North American Aviation in El Segundo, for five years. But her first love was being a wife and Mother.
Her family lived in the Bay Area for several years before moving to Inglewood. She and Clinton bought a home in Anaheim and lived there for 31 years. After Clinton died in 2003, she moved to St. George, Utah to live near her sister ‘Patty'.
Her family was first in her life so she retired from working outside the home. She and Clinton had one son, Paul. No grandchildren were born to them.
Shirley is survived by her brothers, J.C. Hobbs of Mineral Wells, TX and Harold D. Hobbs of Peoria, AZ; and her sister, Patricia Hobbs Crofts of St. George, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lomas Murl Hobbs, John Thomas Hobbs; her husband, Clinton Harvey Rogerson; and son, Paul Lang Rogerson.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 11, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, UT. Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 1:00pm in the Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Madera , CA
