Carrie Evelyn (Cook) Hoag, passed away on April 7, 2013 at her home in Yates Center, Kansas; she was 77.
Carrie was born in Woodson County, Kansas on December 3, 1935; the daughter of Thomas and Martha (Bush) Cook. She was raised in Woodson County, Kansas; attending Yates Center High School in 1953; an alumni of 60 years.
After Carrie graduated from High School she met and married Louis E. Hoag... on February 9, 1956 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yates Center, Kansas. During the couple's marriage of over fifty-five years they were blessed with five children: Tom, Ron, Deanna, Wayne and Belinda. Carrie was busy raising five children as well as having various jobs throughout the community. These included babysitting, sewing operator at Artex Manufacturing, laundry personnel at the Yates Center Nursing Home, a cook at Yates Center High School, and her last and favorite job was working with her niece and owner Cindy Holderman at Tip Top Café.
Carrie was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Yates Center, Kansas; she enjoyed watching her grandchildren in sports, quilting, gambling with her in-laws where she was known to uphold a ‘lucky' streak. Carrie's family was important to her and she kept all her relatives close.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Louis Edward Hoag on December 6, 2013; two sisters: Neva Jenkins and Lorraine Knowles. She is survived by one sister: Irene Hatch and husband Clark of Topeka, Kansas; also by her children: Tom Hoag and wife Diann of Gridley, Kansas; Ron Hoag and wife Cindi; Deanna (Hoag) Sorenson and husband Larry; Wayne Hoag; and Belinda (Hoag) Hughes and husband Bud all of Yates Center, Kansas.
Additional survivors include her twelve grandchildren: Trevor Hoag, Seth Hoag and wife Andrea, Dirk Sorenson and wife Clara, Trenton Hoag, Whitney (Sorenson) Eakin and husband Matt, Drew Hoag and wife Jessica, Erin Hoag, Jordan Hughes, Andrea Stohs, Michael Stohs, Addie Hughes and Kati Hoag; her great-grandchildren: Avery Eakin, Harley Hoag, Wyatt Hoag, Mirandi Sorenson, Elle Hoag, and Maverick Eakin; as well two-more on-the-way also by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
No formal visitation is planned; Carrie will lie in state on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, Kansas. Mass services for Mrs. Hoag are scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yates Center, Kansas; Rosary will be prior to the service at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center, Kansas.
