Joann L. Hixenbaugh Clutter, 67, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, in Washington Hospital.
She was born December 3, 1937, in Hendersonville, a daughter of George P. and Opal Gildow Hixenbaugh.
Mrs. Clutter attended Laboratory Elementary School and was a 1955 graduate of Trinity High School.
She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, where she served as superintendent and deaconness, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and also cleaned the church.
She was a member of Red Hat Society and enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, crocheting, doing crafts, painting sweatshirts and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a pen pal, her friend Lilja, for over 50 years.
On June 12, 1955, in Eighty Four, she married William D. Clutter, who survives. Their children had given them a 50-year anniversary party at Citizens Library this past June 12.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Linda and husband Raymond Puskarich of Washington; two sons, Douglas and wife Kimberly Clutter of Washington and David and wife Sara Clutter of Sycamore; a brother, Wayne Hixenbaugh of Avella; a sister, Karen Belleville of Claysville; seven grandchildren, Shonda Paul, Traci and Jacob L. Puskarich, Christopher Clutter, Julie Mankey and Ronald and Ryan Kingan; a great-grandson, Mason Kingan; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Carol Salsbury.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, with the Rev. Robert Shoup officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Springs Road Cemetery, Canonsburg.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, and Citizens Library, Washington.
